The opportunity

VIP Gateway is one of the UK's fastest-growing car leasing businesses.

We're now making a major investment into organic search with one clear ambition:

To build VIP Gateway into one of the dominant organic search brands in UK car leasing.

We're looking for an exceptional SEO Growth Manager to take complete ownership of that mission.

This isn't a role where you'll simply monitor rankings, brief an agency or publish a few blog articles each month.

You'll be responsible for building an aggressive, sophisticated SEO growth operation covering:

Technical SEO
Commercial landing pages
Content strategy
Programmatic SEO
Internal linking
Site architecture
Digital PR
Authority building
Competitor analysis
AI-assisted content production
SEO automation
CRO
Organic revenue

You'll have significant autonomy, direct access to senior leadership and the resources to build a team underneath you.

The mission

We compete in a search market containing established leasing businesses and major automotive websites.

We don't want to simply improve SEO.

We want to take meaningful organic market share.

Your job will be to identify exactly where that opportunity exists and build the strategy, systems and team required to capture it.

We want to rank prominently across commercially important searches such as:

Car leasing
Personal car leasing
Business car leasing
Electric car leasing
In-stock car leasing
Manufacturer lease deals
Model-specific leasing searches
Price-based leasing searches
Vehicle comparisons
Leasing guides
EV research
Business leasing questions
Transactional automotive searches

And thousands of valuable long-tail opportunities underneath them.

What you'll own

You will have full ownership of SEO performance across VIPGateway.co.uk.

SEO strategy

You will:

Build our long-term organic search strategy
Analyse our biggest competitors in detail
Identify keyword and content gaps
Prioritise opportunities based on commercial value
Create quarterly and annual SEO roadmaps
Set organic growth targets
Establish SEO KPIs and reporting
Connect organic traffic to leads, sales and revenue

We want SEO activity prioritised around commercial impact, not vanity traffic.

Technical SEO

You will take ownership of technical SEO across a large automotive website.

This includes:

Crawlability
Indexation
Site architecture
Canonicals
Duplicate content
Structured data
Core Web Vitals
Page speed
Internal linking
XML sitemaps
Faceted navigation
JavaScript SEO
Redirects
Search Console
Crawl budget
Large-scale page optimisation

You will work directly with our developers to identify and implement technical improvements.

You should be comfortable auditing a large website and turning those findings into a prioritised technical roadmap.

Programmatic SEO

VIP Gateway has a major potential advantage.

We have large volumes of structured vehicle and leasing data covering:

Manufacturers
Models
Derivatives
Fuel types
EVs
Body styles
Pricing
Initial rentals
Mileage
Lease terms
Personal leasing
Business leasing
Vehicle availability

We want to intelligently turn that data into organic search opportunities.

You will develop our programmatic SEO strategy and identify opportunities to create high-quality, genuinely useful pages at scale.

This may include:

Manufacturer pages
Model pages
Derivative pages
EV pages
Price-based pages
Body-style pages
Comparison pages
Leasing category pages
Location pages where appropriate
Search-demand-led landing pages

We are not interested in publishing thousands of low-quality AI pages.

We want to build the most useful search result available for each valuable query.

Content strategy

You'll build the overall SEO content engine.

You'll identify:

What needs to be created
What existing content needs improving
What pages should be consolidated
Which commercial pages need expanding
Which informational topics support transactional rankings
Which content can generate links
Which subjects demonstrate genuine leasing expertise

You'll manage our SEO Content Writer and additional freelance or internal resources as the team grows.

AI and content automation

We believe AI can dramatically increase SEO productivity when used intelligently.

You'll have freedom to introduce:

AI research tools
Content briefing automation
Keyword clustering
Internal linking automation
Content optimisation software
Programmatic page generation
Content QA systems
Data-driven page creation
SEO workflow automation

However, quality remains the priority.

AI should allow us to produce more excellent content, not simply more content.

Digital PR and authority

You'll help develop a strategy to strengthen VIP Gateway's authority.

This may include:

Digital PR campaigns
Automotive data studies
Industry commentary
Newsjacking
Original research
Journalist relationships
Link acquisition
Partnerships
Linkable tools and resources

You'll understand that competitive SEO requires both excellent content and authority.

Competitor analysis

We want somebody who knows exactly who we're competing against and why they're winning.

You'll regularly analyse competitors including major:

Leasing brokers
Leasing comparison websites
Automotive marketplaces
Manufacturers
Publishers

You'll identify:

Their highest-performing pages
Their keyword footprint
Their backlink profile
Their content strategy
Their site architecture
Their programmatic SEO
Where they are vulnerable

And turn that information into action.

CRO and commercial SEO

Getting traffic is only part of the job.

You'll work with our wider growth team to improve:

Conversion rates
Calls to action
Vehicle page structure
Landing page messaging
Lead forms
User journeys
Internal navigation

SEO traffic should ultimately become customers.

Reporting

You will build reporting around metrics including:

Organic clicks
Organic impressions
Ranking distribution
Share of search
Non-brand organic traffic
Organic leads
Organic orders
Conversion rate
Revenue
Gross profit
New referring domains
Indexed pages
Technical health

We want to understand how SEO contributes to the business commercially.

What we're looking for

You will ideally have:

7+ years' SEO experience
Significant experience owning SEO strategy
Proven organic growth results
Experience with large or technically complex websites
Strong technical SEO expertise
Strong content SEO experience
Excellent Search Console knowledge
Strong GA4 experience
Advanced keyword research capabilities
Experience managing developers
Experience managing writers
Strong understanding of backlinks and digital PR
Excellent analytical ability
Strong commercial awareness

Highly desirable

We would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience in:

Automotive
Ecommerce
Marketplaces
Travel
Financial services
Comparison websites
Large catalogue websites
Programmatic SEO
Thousands of indexed commercial pages
Large-scale content operations
SEO automation
AI-assisted SEO

Evidence matters

We're looking for somebody who can demonstrate genuine results.

We want to understand:

Websites you've grown
Organic traffic you've generated
Commercial keywords you've ranked
Revenue you've influenced
Large technical SEO projects you've delivered
Programmatic SEO strategies you've built
Teams you've managed
Competitors you've overtaken

You should be comfortable showing examples and explaining exactly what you contributed.

The type of person we're looking for

You are commercially aggressive about SEO.

You don't accept:

"SEO takes time."

as an excuse for inactivity.

You understand that SEO compounds over time, but you're constantly looking for ways to accelerate progress.

You're obsessed with understanding why competitors rank above you.

You enjoy large websites and difficult SEO problems.

You like data.

You like experimentation.

You're comfortable challenging developers, writers and senior management when something needs changing.

Most importantly, you want ownership.

What success looks like

Over the first 12–24 months we want to see:

Significant organic traffic growth
Major increases in commercially valuable rankings
Growth in non-brand search visibility
Hundreds or thousands of improved commercial landing pages
Strong programmatic SEO infrastructure
Improved technical SEO health
Increased website authority
Significant growth in organic leads
Increased organic sales
Increasing organic market share against our biggest competitors

Our ambition is not to have a "good SEO department."

Our ambition is to build one of the strongest SEO operations in UK automotive leasing.

We'd particularly like to understand:

The largest website you've worked on
Your biggest organic growth result
Commercial rankings you've achieved
Experience with programmatic SEO
Technical SEO projects you've led
Content teams you've managed
Revenue or lead growth attributable to SEO
Examples of outperforming established competitors

We're looking for evidence of results, scale and ownership, not simply years in SEO.
