Job role:
We’re looking for an SEO specialist who genuinely enjoys keeping up with the latest changes in search and understanding what they mean for clients.
You’ll work closely with the wider SEO team, sharing ideas and finding new ways to drive strong organic results. We want someone who’s confident trying new approaches, testing different tactics and building smart strategies that move the needle. Curiosity and a willingness to experiment are key.
You should have a solid understanding of all core areas of SEO, including content, technical SEO, strategy and outreach and PR. You don’t need to be an expert in every single area, but you should be comfortable talking about each one and understanding how they fit together.
As you settle into the role, you’ll also work alongside our Head of SEO to help shape and grow the team. That includes getting involved in hiring and supporting the development of new team members as we expand.
Responsibilities:
As an SEO specialist, you’ll take the lead on improving rankings, growing traffic and driving real results in terms of leads, sales and revenue for your clients.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about SEO and takes pride in performance. You should feel confident owning your clients’ results, making decisions and adapting quickly in a fast paced environment.
Your tasks and duties will include:
- Carrying out regular SEO audits to spot issues, uncover opportunities and recommend clear improvements for both existing and prospective clients.
- Building and delivering SEO strategies designed to drive meaningful, long term growth.
- Completing core strategic work such as keyword research, competitor analysis and site crawls to uncover organic opportunities.
- Working with both internal and external designers and developers to implement on page and technical improvements where needed.
- Creating content as part of a focused, growth led content strategy.
- Supporting digital PR and outreach campaigns driven by our PR and Outreach Specialist to strengthen link profiles and give clients a competitive edge.
- Identifying and prioritising technical SEO tasks that improve site performance and support wider strategy.
- Contributing to the development of client reporting, helping us show impact clearly and effectively.
- Working closely with the Head of SEO and the wider team to continually improve our service.
- Collaborating with other teams across Colewood Digital to deliver a joined up, omnichannel approach.
- Training alongside the Head of SEO to help grow and structure SEO sub teams.
- Feeding into Colewood Digital’s own marketing strategy with ideas and insight.
- Supporting junior team members and helping them follow best practice processes.
- Committing to monthly professional development to stay sharp and keep progressing.
- Using tools such as Google Looker Studio to produce clear monthly performance reports.
- Keeping up to date with Google’s latest updates and algorithm changes and adapting strategies accordingly.
- Building strong, long term relationships with clients.
Skills & experience required:
- Strong working knowledge of SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEMrush and Ahrefs.
- Confident using Google Analytics, Search Console, Looker Studio and Tag Manager to track performance and uncover insights.
- Comfortable working across different CMS platforms, including WordPress, Shopify and Magento.
- A proven track record of delivering successful SEO campaigns that drive measurable results.
- Solid project management skills, with the ability to take ownership of sub team delivery and keep work on track, on budget and delivered to a high standard.
- Experience working with complex or enterprise level websites and clients.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, including accurate spelling and grammar.
- Self motivated, organised and able to manage your own workload effectively.
- A genuine interest in continuous learning and personal development.
Desirable qualifications:
- Able to show clear examples of SEO work you’ve delivered and the results achieved.
- Agency experience is a bonus, but not essential.
- At least one year of hands on SEO experience.
- Degree educated, ideally in a relevant subject, though this isn’t a deal breaker if your experience speaks for itself.
- Open to ongoing training and keen to keep developing your skills.
- Experience supporting, training or sharing knowledge with other team members would be a plus.
