Heavyweight Digital are seeking an SEO Account Manager / Executive who is genuinely strong on both technical SEO and content writing. This is a hands-on role where you'll be expected to produce polished, client-ready copy as well as execute technical fixes across a portfolio of client websites. If you're someone who can audit a site in Screaming Frog in the morning and write a compelling service page in the afternoon, we want to hear from you.
You'll work alongside our SEO Manager and wider team, contributing to client campaigns from day one. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid foundational SEO experience who wants to deepen both their technical and content skills in a fast-paced agency environment.
Duties
Technical SEO
- Carry out technical SEO audits using Screaming Frog and identify issues such as broken links, redirect chains, duplicate content, orphan pages, and crawl errors.
- Implement on-page technical fixes including canonical tags, hreflang, robots.txt directives, and XML sitemap updates.
- Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals and page speed metrics, working with developers where required.
- Implement structured data markup (Schema.org) for relevant page types such as LocalBusiness, FAQ, Product, and Review.
- Diagnose indexation issues via Google Search Console and resolve coverage, mobile usability, and enhancement reports.
- Support site migrations, including pre-migration audits, redirect mapping, and post-launch monitoring.
- Carry out competitor technical benchmarking to identify gaps and opportunities.
Content & On-Page SEO
- Write SEO-optimised long-form content including service pages, location pages, blog articles, category descriptions, and landing pages across a range of client industries.
- Adapt tone of voice to match each client's brand, audience, and sector.
- Conduct keyword and search intent research to inform content structure, headings, and internal linking before writing.
- Edit, proofread, and quality-check content to ensure accuracy, readability, and adherence to client brand guidelines.
- Optimise existing content through refreshes and rewrites, identifying decay and uplift opportunities using GSC and SEMRush data.
- Build topical clusters and pillar page structures to strengthen site authority on core themes.
- Improve internal linking architecture across client sites to distribute equity and improve crawl paths.
- Conduct SERP analysis to understand featured snippets, People Also Ask, and other SERP features, and structure content accordingly.
- Use AI tools responsibly to support research and drafting, while ensuring final output is original, accurate, and human-edited.
Off-Page & Local SEO
- Carry out link prospecting and outreach for digital PR and link-building campaigns.
- Manage local SEO activity including Google Business Profile optimisation, citation building, and review generation strategies.
- Audit and disavow toxic backlinks where appropriate.
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce monthly client reports covering rankings, organic traffic, conversions, and key actions taken.
- Set up and maintain rank tracking, GA4 events, and Google Search Console property configurations for client accounts.
- Investigate ranking and traffic fluctuations and provide written summaries of likely causes and recommended responses.
Client Management
- Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for a portfolio of SEO clients, building strong long-term working relationships.
- Lead client discovery calls, kick-off meetings, and ongoing review sessions, translating client objectives into clear SEO strategies.
- Present monthly performance reports to clients, walking through results, actions taken, and next steps with confidence.
- Manage client expectations around timelines, deliverables, and outcomes, escalating to the SEO Manager where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to grow accounts through additional services or expanded scopes of work.
- Respond to client queries professionally and promptly across email, phone, and video calls.
General
- Manage workload across multiple client accounts and meet agreed deadlines.
- Document processes and contribute to the agency's internal SEO knowledge base.
- Keep up to date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and industry best practices.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' hands-on SEO experience, ideally in an agency environment.
- Demonstrable experience writing SEO content for a range of industries, with samples available on request.
- Strong working knowledge of Google Search Console, Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, SEMRush, and Screaming Frog.
- Solid understanding of technical SEO fundamentals, crawling, indexation, site architecture, schema, Core Web Vitals.
- Comfortable working within WordPress and other common CMS platforms.
- Excellent written English with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Client Management

Working Arrangements
This is a fully remote position, giving you the flexibility to work from home on a permanent basis. We welcome applications from candidates across the UK. For those based in or around Essex, there is the option to make use of our office 1–2 days per week, though this is entirely optional and not a requirement of the role.
