The Role: Do SEO "The Right Way"
Are you tired of building flawless technical foundations, only to watch rankings stall because no one will action your recommendations, or because a site migration wipes out six months of work overnight?
At Create8, we've built an eCommerce Growth Agency where technical SEO doesn't live in a silo. As our Senior SEO Specialist, you won't just be producing audits that gather dust, you'll own the technical strategy and execution for a diverse portfolio of eCommerce and lead-generation clients, backed by an in-house team of web developers, CRO / UX experts and marketing specialists who can actually implement what you recommend.
You will be our first SEO specialist internally, with the opportunity to grow within the business and shape what this department becomes. This role gives you the chance to build the function from the ground up, working alongside our nimble, proactive leadership team already.
Core Responsibilities
- Technical SEO Ownership: Lead on crawlability, indexation, site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and all the technical foundations that make or break organic performance.
- Platform Migrations: Own SEO strategy and execution for platform migrations (e.g. Magento to Shopify), including redirect mapping, URL structure planning, and monitoring to protect and grow rankings through the transition.
- Technical Integration: Work hands-on with our dev team on site migrations, crawl/indexation issues, schema, and Core Web Vitals, so nothing gets lost in translation between strategy and build.
- AI Search Readiness: Keep clients ahead of the shift in search behaviour, optimising technical infrastructure for AI Overviews, LLM-driven discovery (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.), and evolving SERP formats.
- Insightful Reporting: Turn complex technical data from GSC, GA4, and rank tracking tools into clear, actionable stories for clients.
- Account Ownership: Act as the primary technical strategist for your client base, managing audits, migrations, and technical roadmaps end-to-end.
- Strategic Quarterly Meetings: Work with clients to agree on, and achieve, long-term organic growth goals.
- Nice to have:An understanding of full-funnel growth, on-page optimisation, content strategy, and off-page authority building and how it connects to the technical work. You won't need to own this, but an appreciation of how it all fits together will help you collaborate with our content, CRO, and paid marketing specialists.
What You'll Bring
- 4+ Years of Experience: A proven track record in technical SEO, specifically managing both eCommerce (Shopify) and lead-based accounts.
- Migration Experience: Hands-on experience managing SEO through platform migrations (e.g. Magento, WooCommerce, or PrestaShop to Shopify), with a clear understanding of how to preserve and grow organic performance through the transition.
- Platform Mastery: Advanced technical knowledge of GSC, GA4, and industry-standard SEO tools (e.g. Ahrefs, Screaming Frog).
- AI Search Understanding: A genuine grasp of how AI is reshaping search from a technical standpoint — how content and site structure need to work for LLM visibility, not just traditional rankings.
- Commercial Mindset: Ability to prioritise work against traffic and revenue impact, not just technical ranking factors.
- Communication Skills: The confidence to lead client meetings and explain complex technical strategies to everyone from small business owners taking their first steps in SEO, to marketing directors managing multi-site portfolios.
- Adaptability: A "think outside the box" approach to problem-solving, and comfort building processes from scratch rather than inheriting them.
- Bonus:Experience with content strategy, on-page optimisation, or off-page authority building.
