SEO & Content Specialist

Lemongrass Marketing • Bicester, ENG, GB • 3w ago

Lemongrass is a specialist travel communications agency working with travel brands with impact and purpose, in the world’s most beautiful destinations.

Our Mission: We champion responsible tourism by helping travel and tourism brands create lasting positive impact for people, communities, and planet. We achieve this through insight-led strategy, creative communication, and by educating and guiding clients and the industry toward more sustainable practices.

We inspire positive behavioural change that expands horizons, enriches communities, and supports environmental wellbeing.

We’re looking for someone deeply technical, data-driven, and genuinely curious about where search is heading. You’ll work with our SEO & AI Specialist to own and deliver strategies for our travel clients - helping them grow organic authority and stay discoverable as search shifts.

You’ll combine hands-on technical SEO with AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), and work closely with our Digital PR, Content, and Influencer/Social teams so that SEO and AI-visibility thinking runs through everything we deliver - not just the briefs with “SEO” in the title.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Lemongrass, we use a blind recruitment process, meaning personal details such as name, age, gender, and education are removed from applications to focus purely on skills and experience. This helps eliminate unconscious bias and ensures a fairer, more inclusive hiring process where every candidate is evaluated on their merits. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role and our company values resonate with you, but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

We have a strong, values-driven culture and are a proud B-Corp, a community of companies that use the power of business as a force for good. Its aim is to create a sustainable, inclusive economy by reducing poverty and inequality, creating high-quality jobs and a healthier environment.

What You’ll Do:

SEO Strategy & Implementation

Run full technical and content SEO audits, turning findings into roadmaps clients can actually act on.
Improve crawlability, indexation, site structure, Core Web Vitals, and structured data.
Lead keyword, entity, and topic research that feeds content, PR, and authority-building work.
Monitor and interpret performance via GA4, Search Console, and Semrush.

AI Visibility (GEO/AEO)

Build and document frameworks for improving visibility in AI-generated answers and overviews.
Track how AI search is evolving and translate that into practical changes to client strategy.
Use AI tools for research, QA, and reporting automation where it genuinely saves time.

New Business & Agency Contribution

Spot new opportunities, both for existing accounts and new business conversations.
Support the Senior Director of Digital Strategy on high-impact, short-term strategic projects and priority digital initiatives outside of core client retainers.
Contribute technical and AI-visibility input to proposals, credentials, and pitch documents.
Contribute to Lemongrass’s trend reports, webinars, and thought leadership, ensuring our own thinking stays ahead of the market.

Creative & Strategic Thinking

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and changes across digital platforms, sharing insights with the team.
Proactively contribute to team ideation sessions and creative councils, identifying opportunities for innovation.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, media, and industry partners, fostering long-term trust and collaboration.

What you’ll have:

At least 2 years’ technical SEO experience (agency or in-house), ideally in travel, hospitality, or another content-rich sector.
Confidence with Semrush and Screaming Frog day-to-day, and comfort in GA4 and Search Console.
A real grasp of structured data, entity optimisation, and E-E-A-T.
Working familiarity with AI search tools and LLM-powered interfaces.
Genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping search and brand visibility - this isn’t a box-ticking line, it’s most of the job.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn numbers into a story a client will actually act on.
Organised in Google Drive - you can navigate shared folders and documentation without hand-holding.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
A proactive attitude, creative mindset, and eagerness to learn and grow.

Bonus points for:

An eye on where discovery is heading beyond Google - Reddit, TripAdvisor, and other platforms increasingly surfaced in AI answers.
Experience presenting strategy directly to clients, not just producing the numbers behind it.
Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and an interest in conservation.
International languages.
Curiosity of mind and wanting to learn.
