Role Summary
Search is changing faster than it has in 20 years. Google is no longer the only front door to health information — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews are rapidly replacing traditional results with AI-generated answers that cite a small, curated set of sources. Today, when people ask AI platforms about Dr. Berg, we are frequently ignored or replaced by other health influencers. That is the problem you are here to solve.
We are hiring a part-time AI Search & SEO Strategist to own the visibility, authority, and organic performance of DrBerg.com and Shop.DrBerg.com across both traditional search and AI-powered discovery platforms. This role is central to a new AI content pipeline scaling article production to 40–60+ pieces per month, and it has direct executive support from Dr. Berg himself.
You will lead a two-front program: (1) establish Dr. Berg as a consistently cited authority on AI platforms, and (2) maintain the technical and organic SEO foundation on Google that makes that possible. You will work directly with Dr. Berg on strategy and with a medical reviewer and a network of MD co-authors to build the verifiable expertise signals that AI platforms reward.
Why Join Dr. Berg Nutritionals
- Work on one of the most-trafficked health education websites in the world
- Own a high-visibility program with direct executive support and clear impact
- Shape the playbook for how a major health brand wins in the AI search era
- Collaborative, mission-driven team focused on helping people live healthier lives
- Competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth
What You’ll Do
- AI Search Visibility & Citation Strategy (Lead Priority)
- Own Dr. Berg’s presence across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and emerging AI answer engines
- Continuously track how AI platforms cite, summarize, and represent Dr. Berg vs. competitors on high-value health questions
- Identify AI citation gaps and drive topic selection into the AI content pipeline (40–60+ articles/month) to close them
- Apply entity optimization, structured data, and generative engine optimization (GEO) techniques so our content is retrievable and quotable by LLMs
- Produce the first comprehensive AI citation report and establish ongoing reporting cadence
- Stay ahead of how AI platforms evolve their source selection and surface rapid-response recommendations
- Authority, Authorship & E-E-A-T
- Partner with our medical reviewer (Ahmed) and Dr. Berg’s network of MD co-authors to embed verifiable medical expertise into priority content
- Design authorship, credentialing, and citation patterns that AI platforms and Google’s E-E-A-T systems reward on YMYL health topics
- Build the author entity graph (Dr. Berg, reviewers, co-authors) across the site, Wikipedia-adjacent sources, and the broader web
- Content & Competitive Strategy
- Partner with the content team to ensure new content (target: ~5 pieces/week) is optimized for both AI retrieval and traditional search
- Think outside the box on topic and angle selection — strategy, not transactional keyword lists
- Conduct ongoing competitor analysis across both traditional SERPs and AI platforms to identify opportunities, gaps, and threats
- Keyword Strategy & On-Page Optimization
- Conduct ongoing keyword and query research aligned with industry trends, competition, and business goals in the supplement, health, and wellness sector
- Map primary and long-tail keywords to specific pages to prevent cannibalization and align with search intent
- Optimize title tags, meta descriptions, header structure (H1/H2), URL structure, image alt text, and internal linking
- Deploy and maintain schema markup across the site — with particular attention to schema types that improve AI retrieval
- Technical SEO & Site Health
- Conduct monthly technical SEO audits and maintain site health at or above target thresholds
- Monitor and resolve crawl errors, broken links (404s), redirect issues, underscore URLs, mixed content, and indexability problems
- Own robots.txt, XML sitemap, and canonical tag configuration — including directives for AI crawlers (GPTBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, etc.)
- Track and improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), page speed, and mobile usability
- Diagnose traffic drops beyond the standard audits
- Log, triage, and track technical fixes in ClickUp and Trello; escalate out-of-scope issues and ensure resolution before the next audit cycle
- Backlink Building & Authority
- Assess the current backlink profile, identify broken or low-quality links, and research high-authority link targets
- Execute innovative outreach campaigns (email, social, LinkedIn) to acquire high-quality backlinks, including cutting-edge strategies
- Document, track, and report on backlink placements and domain authority
- Analytics, Tracking & Reporting
- Validate Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, event tracking, and conversion tracking
- Deliver reports on a consistent cadence:
- Weekly — Traffic & Performance Report (organic traffic, engagement, bounce rates, conversions)
- Weekly — Keyword Ranking & Visibility Report
- Monthly — Technical SEO & Site Health Report
- Monthly — Backlink Report (active backlinks, acquired/lost, domain authority)
- Monthly — AI Citation & Visibility Report (coverage on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews vs. competitors)
